Sheriff of Northumberland
He succeeded to the title of 4th Baronet Fleming, of Rydal, co. Westmorland [E., 1705] on 31 March 1757. He held the office of High Sheriff of Northumberland in 1770. He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Westmorland between 1774 and 1806. He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel between 1779 and 1806 in the service of the Cumberland Militia.
