Colonel in the Army. He wrote the booklet Four-Handed Chess which was published in 1881.

Changed his name to LLOYD-VERNEY (roy licence 11 Feb 1888) on inheriting Clochfaen from his wife's uncle who had inherited it from his maternal grandmother Sarah, daughter and heiress of Jenkin Lloyd, of Clochfaen.
