Merchant in the Brazil trade in Liverpool, ie Cotton, sugar and perhaps rubber and coffee. (Brazil became independent in 1822) Born at Rackery Hall, Llay. The marriage contract with his wife Harriet is held by TC-J in the family files.
Went to Brazil on business with his brother John.
Lived in Walton on the Hill, West Derby and Toxteth while Harriet was still alive then in Shaw Steeet, Everton, named after John Shaw, former Lord Mayor of Liverpool, in the same street as the Collegiate Institution where his son William went to school.
When he retired went to live with brother William and family at Fulwood Lodge 61, Aigburth Road, Aigburth near Sefton Park to whom he was very close as were their respective children as seen in their correspondence in the 50’s and 60’s.
